What is Ballin' on Belrose?

Ballin’ on Belrose is a community walk/run event on Belrose Avenue in Daphne, between Main Street and Mobile Bay. It is a day of fun for all ages with DJ music, sponsor booths, food and drink, a kids' play area with inflatables, face painting, photo ops and more. Named “Ballin’” for the Baller Dream Foundation, the event aims to raise funds to support the foundation’s efforts in supporting, comforting, and offering once-in-a-lifetime experiences to lift the spirits of children and young adults battling cancer.

Participating as an Individual

You can choose to race as an individual or a family and run/walk up the hill of Belrose Ave. as many times as you can. Whether you complete one lap uphill or all 11, we want you and everyone with you to have a good time! If you plan to give it your all, the male and female first-place kid, adult, and senior racers will all receive medals. We'll even give a medal to the first family dog to complete 11 trips up the Belrose hill!

Participating as a Team

You can also get a group together and participate as a team. When signing up, give us your team's name. During the race, each team member will compete one at a time. Each time one of your team members completes a lap (once down and up the hill), your team will get credit and be one step closer to reaching the goal of 11. There will be a medal for the first team to complete 11 trips up the Belrose hill.

Baldwin County Nonprofits

We want to go bigger by donating an additional $10,000 to a local nonprofit. We challenge all Baldwin County-based nonprofits to bring as many supporters as possible to compete. The nonprofit with the most completed laps up the hill will win $10k. Each racer must tell us who they are racing for when signing up online or at check-in on race day before the start of the race.

Spectators and families are welcome and encouraged to attend!
Bring a chair and join in the fun.

Inspiration

The 29029 Everesting Challenge inspired this event and has been adapted into a family-friendly, local event. Mount Everest is 29,029 feet tall, meaning its formidable peak is 5.5 miles above sea level. Using that elevation as our inspiration, we created a walk/run challenge where racers will travel a linear distance of 29,029 ft uphill on Belrose Avenue (plus trekking back down the hill between each climb, making the challenge a total of 10.5 miles).

Our "Everest Challenge," inspired by the brave climbers who ascend Mount Everest, is a community event appropriate for racers of all ages and fitness levels. Climb the hill just once or ascend it 11 times to complete the challenge—it's all about showing up and having fun.
Earn your "11"

Do you have what it takes to conquer the climb? Complete the challenge by ascending the Belrose hill 11 times (for a total of 5.5 miles uphill and 10.5 miles total distance) in under three hours, and you’ll take home the coveted orange hat and your own “11” badge of honor. Race winners in each category will receive a medal and a prize.

Categories include:
  • First Place Kid (male and female)
  • First Place Adult (male and female)
  • First Place Senior (male and female)
  • First Place Dog
  • First Place Team

About the Baller Dream Foundation

The Baller Dream Foundation (BDF) is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that lifts the spirits of brave young cancer warriors, ages birth-25. The young people served by BDF are not called patients, but “Ballers”. Baller is a modern-day term suggesting a person is doing well, feeling well and in control. BDF works closely with children’s hospitals across the country and provides in-hospital, volunteer-led activities to help ease the minds of young warriors, as well as support for their families. Thanks to generous sponsors and donors, BDF also provides major life experiences for Ballers and their families.
